Loft History
Michel Lefebvre has run Lefebvre Sails in Oostende, Belgium, for the last 42 years and has been a member of the UK Sailmakers group since 2005. He is assisted in the loft by his son Michel Lefebvre, Jr., and a professional team. The main loft is 1500 sq. meters, which is big enough to make all kind of sails, as well as sail covers, canvas work and bags. We sell the biggest names in furling systems, masts, and rigging. Our store can take care of the needs of cruising sailors as well as racing sailors.
Lefebvre, Sr., has sailed in Olympic classes and offshore boats where he has collected national and international victories in classes such as Formule 40, Mumm 36, B25, Dragon, Half Tonner, and more. Michel was also coach for the Belgian Olympic Team in Sydney 2000.
His son Michel, Jr., specializes in offshore boats and is a regular in events such as the Fastnest Race, Round Europe Race, RORC-regattas, and more. Yannick, Michel’s second son has taken a second in the Splash Worlds and a third in the Cadet Europeans and is now sailing Olypmic classes.
The rest of the loft’s team consists of people with a lot of sailing experience and knowledge about sails and sailboats.
Michel Lefebvre leidt op dynamische en deskundige wijze de BVBA Lefebvre Sails sinds 1974. Hij wordt geassisteerd door zijn zoon Michel Jr. en steunt daarbij op een professioneel team dat werkt in een zeilmakerij van 1500 m. Het atelier is uitgerust met talrijke naaimachines waarvan 5 met lange arm en andere technische hoogstandjes. Onlangs werd 2000 m_ bijgekocht voor de activiteiten uit te breiden.
De lokalisering van zeilmakerij Lefebvre Sails in Oostende staat hen toe om gemakkelijk uit te wijken naar Noord-Frankrijk, Nederland, Duitsland en Luxemburg en zo een internationaal clienteel te onderhouden.
Door hun ervaring en kennis mag het team van Lefebvre Sails grote merken in de branchevertegenwoordigen van rolsystemen, masten, tuigage, beslag, touwen, … .
In de zeilmakerij gebeurt trouwens nog veel meer: van confectie van huiken, cabriolets buiskappen en bachen in alle vormen, over tekeningen en logo’s op zeilen tot reiniging en winterberging.
De zeilmakerij Lefebvre heeft alles in huis voor de watersporthobbyist tot de professionele regattazeiler.
Ook is er een 2de vestiging in Nieuwpoort om ons clienteel nog beter van dienst te zijn.
Michel Lefebvre dirige avec dynamisme et compétence la SPRL Lefebvre Sails, depuis 1974.
Il est secondé par son fils Michel Junior et s'appuie sur une équipe de métier qui oeuvre dans une voilerie de 1500 m_. La voilerie a acheté 2000 m_ en plus pour élargir leurs activités .
L'atelier est équipé de nombreuses machines à coudre, dont 5 à bras long ,et est completé
par d'autres technicités performantes.
La situation de la voilerie à Oostende lui permet de rayonner avec efficacité vers le Nord de la France, la Hollande,l'Allemagne et le Luxembourg et d'avoir une clientèle internationale.
L'experience et le savoir permet à l'équipe de représenter,de poser et d'entretenir avec succès les grandes marques d’enrouleur de foc et de grand-voile, des mâts, les cordages, cables de toutes dimensions, …
L'activité de la voilerie s'étend à la confection de tauds,cabriolets et baches
de toutes formes,dessins et logos dans les voiles ainsi que le nettoyage et l'hivernage.
La voilerie Lefebvre comprend ainsi tous ce qui concerne le plaisancier au régatier.
Un 2ième magasin a été ouvert à Nieuport pour encore donner plus de service à notre clientelle.
